Good Governance

SIU weekly public lecture organised by the University’s faculty of arts and Social Sciences had the honour of having H.E. Ali Mohamed Mohamud, the former minister of Health and Human Development, and now the general secretary of Somali Forum for Unity and Democracy as the guest speaker.  This week’s lecture was on Good Governance.

Somalia was once a prosperous nation, peace with itself and with its neighbours. He said today’s youth have the chance to lead our country to prosperity once again and regain its honour among other nations and that this, could be achieved through good governance.

He told attendees that good governance required; having rules, abiding by them and only amending them if necessary and to the benefit of all.  According to H.E Mohamoud all these requirements are easily achievable if collectively acted upon. Equally important he said are leaders with vision, courage and knowledge.
