Human Anatomy Lab

Human Anatomy Laboratory

Somali International University Anatomy Lab includes Anatomy Models and Human Dissection Room.

Human Anatomy Models

Here at SIU we have a variety of anatomical models helping our students to learn Anatomy and include;

Models of bones and joints, muscle models, human spine models, vertebrae models, skull models, torso models, brain models, dental models and models of heart, circulatory systems, digestive and urinary systems, breast models and pregnancy models.

Human anatomy models are great teaching and learning properties. SIU uses these models for providing a better and clear vision to students about the complexities of human anatomy.

The human anatomy model makes anatomy easy for students and to understand the complex functioning of the human body parts. Learning anatomy through anatomy models with touching, feeling and looking closely at the models makes anatomy more interesting, easier and more enjoyable.

Human Dissection Room

Here at the SIU we have cadavers with the main instruments essential for the dissection: blunt-pointed scissors, a scalpel, forceps (rat-tooth and non-rat-tooth), and a metal probe.

The dissection laboratory of SIU delivers an environment in which the minds of touch and sight can be used to improve student’s understanding of the human anatomy of the body. One can truly see and feel structures which course beneath the skin, like nerves, arteries and veins.

The dissection laboratory continues to be an educational setting in which SIU students of anatomy gain a three-dimensional view of structural relationships.

Human Cadavers

Human cadaver training allows students to study many data points, such as, observing body, muscles, bones and organs in a life size model. This gives the students a more precise idea of the size and location than can be acquired using a textbook, models or a computer. Doctors, Fellows and Students get access to practice dissecting the human body and train for real surgical scenarios.

While a textbook can easily describe what an average condition is, yet each two living people are mostly not alike. With a real human cadaver training the students will be able to see the different anatomies people have and they will discover that all humans do not have the same basic anatomy, there are wide differences in how that anatomy research appears.
