SIU Participates in International Seminar 2026 on Artificial Intelligence, Innovation, and Sustainable Engineering

Somali International University (SIU), in collaboration with ICCCM, ITEA Malaysia, and Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (PSMZA), participated in the International Seminar 2026, held on 14 September 2026 under the theme “Empowering Future TVET Graduates through Artificial Intelligence, Innovation, and Sustainable Engineering.”

The seminar was conducted in a hybrid format, with SIU students joining from the university's Innovation Center in Mogadishu while partner institutions participated virtually through Zoom. The event provided students with an opportunity to engage with emerging developments in artificial intelligence, innovation, and sustainable engineering and to understand their importance for future skills and career development.

Representing SIU, Engr. Hassan Omar delivered a presentation titled “Empowering Future Graduates Through Artificial Intelligence.” The presentation focused on AI skills, Somali-language technology, and the role of data in developing relevant technological solutions.

A total of 88 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Technology participated in the seminar, including strong female participation representing 30% of attendees.

Through this international engagement, SIU students gained exposure to current trends in AI, innovation, and sustainable engineering, while also strengthening their academic perspectives, digital skills, and awareness of emerging career opportunities.

SIU's participation in the International Seminar 2026 reflects the university's continued commitment to international academic collaboration and to preparing students with the knowledge and skills required for a technology-driven future.
