Overview

Somalia's economic recovery and integration into the global economy depend increasingly on a digitally skilled workforce. Mobile money, e-government initiatives, private-sector digitisation, and a growing regional technology industry all require software developers, network administrators, database specialists, and IT professionals trained to a genuinely professional standard, yet Somalia produces relatively few home-grown computer scientists. The Department of Computer Science brings together instructors with backgrounds in software engineering, networking, databases, and emerging technologies, delivering a curriculum structured so that students first build a rigorous foundation in programming, mathematics, and computing fundamentals before progressing into specialised coursework spanning web and mobile development, databases, networks, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
